(MENAFN) Georgian authorities expelled more undocumented foreigners in 2025 than during the entire preceding ten-year period, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced Friday in a televised statement.
The nation currently harbors over 20,000 illegal migrants, Kobakhidze revealed, pledging that enhanced enforcement operations by the Migration Department will eliminate the backlog within several years.
Stricter workplace regulations targeting foreign labor recruitment are set to activate March 1, the prime minister confirmed, signaling Georgia's escalating immigration enforcement posture.
In December, Kobakhidze disclosed that 1,131 unauthorized migrants had been removed from the country in 2025, while committing to deport a minimum of 3,500 additional individuals throughout 2026.
